Stupid Red Sox.
Every year, it doesn't have to be September, they slam a fist into my chest, creating a vortex that leads directly to my once again emboldened heart, surrounded by hopes, dreams, double entendres of baseball and life, and a gleaming World Series ring. They then take my heart and prick some holes into the left ventricle and right atrium, slowly draining all my hopes with subtle surety. This leaves my heart deflated, in a state of utter despondency, watching another heart in another vortex realize his/her dreams. And then, just for good measure, they punch me in the face.
Stupid Red Sox.
I'd much rather them lose 100 games than lose one game more than the Yankees, just enough losses to prevent a trip to the playoffs/world series; and yet just enough wins to propogate the continuous hope that rips like a torrent through Red Sox nation every spring and summer.
Stupid Red Sox.
Sports are a metaphor for life which is like or as a simile of the 'deplorable dangling of the golden carrot' which is a cliche for 'Red Sox fans are gullible' which is an excuse to take more illicit drugs.
Stupid Red Sox. Continuing to allay my hope for happiness, one year at a time...
